Is Videography your full time job?
Yes, it is my full time job, whilst Joyce helps part time with the admin and as the second camera operator. It takes a considerable amount of time, effort and concentration, in terms of reviewing, capturing, editing, titling, production of covers etc, to produce a high quality video to the standards we believe the client deserves.
How many hours does it take to produce the Video?
It takes anywhere from 30-60 hours of effort to complete an edit. But of course we are also involved in other weddings, projects, visits and rehearsals, which will interrupt the work flow.
How long will I have to wait for my Video?
This very much depends on the time of year and the number of other projects going on. In the quieter times we normally like to get the video to you within four weeks, but in busier times, such as the summer months it can take as much as 16 weeks. I can only edit one at a time and I do these strictly in order of filming. It is not a process that I like to compromise by hurrying, each film gets the same loving care, as each one is that couple's big day!
Do you carry spare equipment on the day?
Yes, we always carry spare cameras, tape, lights and batteries.
Will it be you that will be filming my wedding?
Yes, it will be Joyce and I. We do not use other operators as we pride ourselves on our personal service and friendly manner, which is why we always like to pay a personal visit to meet you prior to booking.
Do you hold the necessary insurances?
Yes, I hold Professional Indemnity and Public Liability insurance.
Will you attend the rehearsal?
We both always like to attend the church rehearsal if possible. This gives us the chance to reassure the vicar that we will not disturb the service and to discuss our camera positions. We also like to attend any final discussion or rehearsal at civil venues, to sort out the same sort of details.
Do you hold licenses to enable you to record the ceremony, music and hymns in a church/registry, and to add music tracks on to the completed video?
Yes, we take out the appropriate licenses from the MCPS & the PPL on your behalf. More information on these legal requirements can be obtained on the www.videolicence.co.uk site. Back to top
Do you move around during the service?
No, we always use tripods from the agreed locations and do not move around the church during the ceremony (most vicars or priests won't allow it anyway).
Do you use lighting at the service?
No, again most vicars or registrars would not allow this anyway as it would be a major distraction. We do carry lighting and may use some during the reception in dark areas, or as the natural light is fading, but our cameras do not normally require additional lighting and it may destroy the ambience of the venue.
If I send original photographs & CD's to you will they be returned?
Yes, all original materials sent to us will be returned.
How do we contact you once the deposit is paid?
You may contact us anytime, using e-mail, letter or phone. We will send you a letter about 6 weeks before the wedding, to complete our information sheet, to remind you when the balance is due and to request the items we require to produce your video. Back to top
Do you set up any shots?
Not unless there is something you specifically want to do. Setting up groups etc is left to the photographer. We pride ourselves on being unobtrusive and capturing fairly candid shots. As you will see from previous clients recommendations, we usually find when we say our goodbyes to the bride, groom & wedding party, most of them say they haven't noticed us all day!
Can we order extra copies after the wedding?
Yes, you can order extra copies of the Video after the Wedding.
Are there different types of DVD & menus?
There are basically two types of DVD, the DVD+R and the DVD-R, which is the recognised standard. We use the DVD-R standard. In order to ensure maximum compatibility and quality, we normally send the Video off to a professional company to produce the DVD with professional menus and chapters to help you get to the main points in the video quickly.
Are you a member of a professional organisation?
Yes, I am a Master Member of the Institute of Videography (IOV) ( www.iov.co.uk .), and a qualified member of the Association of Professional Videomakers (APV). This means that my work has been assessed and passed by a panel of judges of both organisations and that I am bound by their professional standards and subject to their arbitration procedures in the unlikely event of any dispute over our work. |
